Corpus Christi School, Shaping the Future
Serving the children of Corpus Christi and St. Mary of the Assumption parishes.
Our Faith: Prayer
Every school day provides a new opportunity to celebrate, therefore prayer is an integral part of each day.
- Daily morning announcements contain prayer requests for those in the Corpus Christi family or community. A prayer board is also posted at the office door for these requests.
- Students pray in the classrooms throughout the day - the morning, at change of class, before and after meals and at the end of the school day.
- Traditional prayers of the church are emphasized, including The Guardian Angel Prayer, The Angelus in Advent, the Eternal Rest prayer in November, the Hail Mary in Spanish each week, the Rosary and Mysteries of the Rosary in October and May. The student body is often led in these prayers over the P.A. system by students and teachers.
- Music is an integral part of prayer and worship; traditional hymns in English and Spanish are taught and practiced.
- Time is set aside each week for staff to join with each other, to share scripture and pray together as a faculty. An annual faculty retreat day is also scheduled.
- Moms-in-touch, a parent group, meets weekly to pray for the private intentions of staff and students. Every student and faculty member, as well as their intentions, are prayed for by name.
- Many years ago, a statue of Our Blessed Mother was presented as a gift to Corpus Christi School. This statue has created an opportunity for Marian devotion in our school families as it travels from home to home throughout the school year encouraging families to pray the Rosary together.
